Joan Hug-Valeriote is an award-winning quilt/fibre artist, longarm quilter, film-maker and Studio Teacher. She is a recognized Ontario Artist who was subsidized by the Ontario Arts Council as a Visiting Artist in Education and taught quilting as an art form in Ontario schools for more than ten years. An artist member of Studio Art Quilt Associates, she also provides longarm quilting services in Guelph, Ontario.
She creates landscapes, abstracts and textile adaptations from photographs along with art quilts and modern bedquilts on her Innova M24 longarm quilting machine.

A ONE-DAY FESTIVAL IN GUELPH’S GROOVIEST NEIGHBOURHOOD, SEPTEMBER 21st, 2024
‘The Ward’: the unique and historic part of Guelph bordered by Elizabeth, Victoria, and the Eramosa River has become a vibrant and creative centre for artists and innovators.
A remarkable group of those Ward creatives have gathered to share the wonders of their ‘hood in a one-day festival Saturday Sept. 23rd, making use of 18 different venues, all easily walkable or bikeable.

Long-Arm Machine-Quilting
Joan has over 20 years experience quilting on longarm machines. She can provide you with a variety of machine-quilting services, for your finished quilt top, from basting prior to hand-quilting, to simple freehand and pantograph designs, to custom quilting designs. Read MoreCustom-made Bed Quilts
“Custom-made” means making a quilt for you “from scratch” and can cost upwards of $300 for a baby quilt and upwards of $1500 for a single bed quilt, depending on the fabrics used and the complexity of the design. Commissioned art quilts are usually wall quilts ranging from very small landscapes to large abstract wall-hangings and/or installations.
