“Transparency” – queen bed quilt from a pattern by Weeks & Ringle, “Diamonds are Forever” pantograph by Patricia E. Ritter a gift for my son and his wife.
Early September Quilt
Here are photos for Early September.
I called it that because most of my eco-dyed fabrics are done in September when the Goldenrod is in bloom…and I am a sucker for the yellow blossoms found in fields and roadsides everywhere.
This quilt was inspired by a quilt entitled “Keeping Tabs” by Weeks and Ringle, from a calendar that was gifted to me.
Except for the vertical strip of Moda Grunge on the backing (a remnant from a client’s quilt) , all fabrics were my own eco-dyes, from plants collected, usually in September since 2010.
Walnut and Sumac, sometimes overdyed with Tea or Coffee, Buckthorn twigs, leaves and berries, Goldenrod, Dandelion, Sunflower and some leftover blue Procion dyes added to the last batch of mixed Goldenrod, Dandelion and Buckthorn. All the browns that I didn’t really like when I made them, went onto the back and look much better all together.
Machine-quilted freehand squiggly lines my longarm.
